The Year of “Still Here” Tour 08

Venturing from Nashville, in 1971 Jimmy Buffett arrived in Key West, FL. It was November, eighty five degrees and everyone was basting in the sun on the white sandy beaches. Buffett interviewed with “USA Today” sixteen years later and said, “This looks like the kind of place I ought to consider living in.”

Jimmy Buffett has left behind a millions for fans since. Young and old over decades many have followed him due to his easy going style, his parrot head icons, laid back attitude, and a good time to be had by all! Buffett was recently inducted into the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame, just one of many accomplishments. From his Music, Apparel, Head-ware, Foot-ware, Souvenirs, Furniture, Restaurants, and you would never know he had so many books! To his newest novel, “A Salty Piece of Land” of which I own, this legend and his life is worth the experience!

Buffett’s concerts are more like being at a beach bash! So remember to wear your freakiest “Parrot Head” outfit, including plenty of beach balls that end up being tossed around the crowd during his performances. If you are thinking of just arriving an hour or so early, then think again, because the tail-gate parties are amazing, just walking around checking everyone out will have your cheeks hurting from laughter.

From personal experience: I was never a huge Buffett fan. Yes, I liked his music after four decades of hearing his greatest tunes over and over on the radio, but I never knew the man could be so much fun to experience him LIVE! The best part of the open out-door concert I attended in Tampa, FL, were the ladies that sat down in the Ford Amphitheater lawn next to us. One of the ladies was wearing the best parrot-head hat I've ever seen. The one woman wearing that hat just happened to be 73 years old! She explained just before the concert began, that since her husband passed away the year before, and that she started listening to Buffett’s music because it made her happy. It was early September and it happened to be her forth Buffett concert that year!
